Joke (Yo-ka) Reeder
Admissions Director, Lecturer, English and Foreign Languages teacher and queen of textile arts.
Everyone knows Joke! She is a renowned speaker and has dedicated her life to hatting families on how to apply the tech to their families. Joke has owned and run several Applied Scholastics Schools and has been teaching since 1980 in the States (Since 1967 overseas). Joke’s drive as a teacher is to be the “Bridge to the Bridge”. Joke wants every students to be able to study the tech and gain the confidence they need to handle life! “Your English should never be a barrier to spiritual freedom!”
Sarah Brauninger
Headmistress and Lead Teacher
Sarah teaches math, sciences, and social sciences at the school. She holds a BSEd in Secondary Math (meaning she can teach advanced math). Sarah has been teaching in the Applied Scholastics network since 1996 and has been lead teacher at the New Horizons since 1999. She has had many successes of students with excellent college entry exam scores. Her students slip into college with ease and a scholarship. She teaches remedial through Advanced Math and Calculus, (mostly with a bird on her shoulder). Sarah’s goals as a teacher are to give each student the tools and confidence to pursue their goals. “No child should curb their dreams because of academics!”
Donald Brauninger
Executive Director
Donald keeps everything running so that the teachers can teach! He is in charge of transportation, finance, security and our excellent organic kitchen. He is a mad pickle ball player and dedicated Daddy!
Annakiya (KiKi) Reeder
Student-Life Director
Kiki graduated from New Horizons Academy in 2018 and manages the students’ schedules, dormitories, safety, meals, extra curricular activities and so much more. One of her official posts is School Tone-Raiser! She is a life-guard, a certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and a blast on camping trips!
Snowy
Gate-Greeter
Snowy is responsible to screaming and yowling with great enthusiasm whenever someone comes to the front gate. He takes this job very seriously and is willing to put in long hours into the night waiting for the students to come home from field trips.
Gamara
Tank
Gamara seems to have stomping as his sole function in life. He does this very well. His only pleasure in life appears to be carrots, and so he is hand fed carrots every morning. Gamara has been staff for 20 years, and has grown from a chocolate chip cookie to 100 pounds of immobility.
